Gary Belcher

I was born and raised in Mt. Carmel, in southeastern Illinois. I graduated from Murray State University in Murray, KY (where I met my lovely wife) with a Bachelor of Music Education in 1974. In 1978 I completed a Master of Church Music degree at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.
I served three churches in Kentucky as Minister of Music before joining Lynwood’s staff in 1995 as Pastor of Worship and Senior Adults. My wife Sue and I have 2 daughters: Sarah and Katie, and one dog: Chestnut.

I began my ministry at Lynwood in January, 2004. I was born in Amarillo, Texas. I received a B.S. from Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. (Yes, that’s as small as it sounds!) I am currently working on a MA in Biblical Studies through Liberty University. I served as a bi-vocational student minister in two churches while teaching math in a junior high school. I taught in Corpus Christi, Texas for 10 years before moving to Cape Girardeau.
I live with four angels: my wife, Kristin, and our daughters, Lindsay, Taylor, and Elisabeth. I love yard work (really), sports, editing video, X-Box, and Bugs Bunny.
I trusted the Lord as my savior in 1979. I stopped resisting the call to the ministry in 1991. I don’t know why I waited so long! I was ordained as a minister January 4, 2004 here at Lynwood.
